Trump became our leader
And what he did appalls.
When his bid for re-election
Did not go the way he called,
He had allies
Storm Congress’s halls.

On Trump’s say-so cranks and rebels
Gathered near the Capitol.
He told this horde of fuming confederates
To fight or they’d lose all.
They rallied;
Then for Trump they brawled.

When demagogues and blowhards
Get elected and call news faux
And fuel prejudice, hate, and mistrust,
The malign beliefs they sow
Cast aspersions
That make strife grow.

When leaders spurn elections
And lie that fraud’s widespread
And out of spite they talk their backers
Into revenge and bloodshed,
Remember what the ancients said:
A fish rots
From the head.
