The Lyrics

President Obama wants to score a Supreme Court first with an avowed racist judge, Sonia Sotomayor, just because she's Hispanic? OK, TT goes him one better, scoring a first by reaming this rotten idea in her native language. (My face ... in your face, Obama!) [1]

Sung to this video of all-time fave cover. See note to English Version posted today re: Jay's opera-trained voice.

[1] Spanish parody needs a Spanish pun: "Cara" translates both as "dear", as in TOS title ("Cara Mia" = "My Dear"), and as "face". hehehe

OK, so the Spanish is a bit rusty... try *rhyming* (and *pacing*) in a rusty foreign language! :) © 2009 Tommy Turtle. All rights reserved.

Thanks for the translation; the words fit nicely in the Spanish version. This must have taken some time - my hat's off to you and some 5's for you. Clever idea using Spanish for the Latina candidate.

¡Cinco cinco cinco! PS, you'll find the translated version of my comment in the English version of your parody!

Patrick: Gracias.

Timmy1000: Thanks -- as the intro says, it seemed sort of appropriate, since she herself has stated that that's part of what makes her a "better judge" (the other part: being female). Thanks for v/c.

El Jefe Justicio Juan Roberts(o): Me gusta con mucho gusto sus metaforas mexcladas, especialmente with a bit of Chiante thrown in! Gotta grab for all the gusta you can get! ... thanks for your Opinion, Mr. Justice -- obviously, you're more qualified than the nominee presently under consideration. :)

Tommy Turtle to Chance G. - June 03, 2009 - Report this comment
Chance, as per the intro, the "big deal" about SS is that she'd be the first Hispanic on the US Supreme Court. So, as a "gimmick", TT mocks that by writing the first parody (he thinks) totally in Spanish. Still with me?... There was a translation provided in the second portion for non-Spanish speakers, but of course the translation doesn't rhyme or pace (the Sp. version does). There was also a parody of her posted on the same day, which was written from scratch in English, which *does* rhyme and pace properly. (The words are therefore a little different, of course.) Still with me? Feel free to ask if you don't understand the concept yet. Thanks for stopping by.

EVERYONE: Just caught TOS on PBS Doo-Wop Special. Jay Black, at age 62, still hit the high notes -- and *still* held the 16-beat note and continuation. Surely the show will be repeated -- part of the PBS regular pledge drive -- he's on at about 45-50 min. into the show. Hope ya catch it! -- TT.
