Original Song Title:

"The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald"

Original Performer:

Gordon Lightfoot

Parody Song Title:

"The Wreck Of The John Peel"

Parody Written by:

Fack Sabbath

The Lyrics

What if John Peel wrote the Edmund Fitzgerald
He champion new music up its backside
Today, 10 years on
We're still miss him, but we listen to him
He died in Peru
And 'Teenage Kicks' was his song
But if it was 'Gangnam Style'
That'll be daft and childish

He is no longer with us
But if he were, that'll be daft
With us playing with toys, mucking about, and quoting Tracy Beaker
He used to live in Peel Acres
Invited The White Stripes and Blur
Making sure he wasn't Axl Rose

The wreck of the John Peel
The Wreck of the John Peel
The wreck of the John Peel
The wreck of the John Peel

Mark E Smith, will you watch CBBC

His festive 50s were absolutely shit
But that wasn't really alright

The challenge of writing a parody of "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" lies in its unusual length for a pop song. This is a very abbreviated effort, and I don't hear Gordon Lightfoot's melody in it at all. Security code for this comment "AXT". Appropriate, I think.
