Original Song Title:

"Baby The Rain Must Fall"

Original Performer:

Glen Yarborough

Parody Song Title:

"I'll Ignore It All"

Parody Written by:

Patrick McWilliams

The Lyrics

Just sitting around watching TV, nothing good on.
Some men mine the mountains
Some men fish the sea
I just sit on my fat butt
And stare at the TV

Oh, maybe the rain will fall
Maybe the wind will blow
If Channel Nine won't tell me
I will never know
I will never know

Some men will make a fortune
They'll fill their vaults with gold
I'll munch a bowl of salty snacks
And keep on growing old

Daily, the markets crash
Some day the sky will fall
I'll watch a "Simpsons" rerun
And ignore it all
And ignore it all

I watch the infomercials
They've caught me in their spell
My living room's completely filled
With all the stuff they sell

Winter, the days are short
Winter, the nights are long
There's nothing on this evening
So I wrote this song
So I wrote this song
A great original melody. I'm surprised no one here has used it before.

I'm surprised no one used that OS here either. Maybe they were just too lazy.

I'm not surprised. It may have been 20 years since anything reminded me that Glen Yarbarough ever existed! Anyway, hilarious contrast between the original ego-anthem and the couch-potato lyrics! Nicely done!

Does anybody remember that Glen Yarborough began his career with a folkish group called The Limelighters? Or that he sang songs in the Rankin-Bass animated Hobbit and Return Of The King on television? But I digress...good song parody here! ;D
