I see wagons stranded in their sidings,
Shunted there, just metres from the quay
When will their loads move across the sea

Am I witnessing your dying?
Once proud labourers are crying
As the paint peels from containers in the yards

You were once my favourite seaport
Perhaps one day you’ll be a Freeport?
Then countless trucks will surely go

I fear the sea-lanes losing traffic,
Perhaps some freight will now reach us by plane?
