The other day I rented me a movie
At the local rental store
I'd searched all through some old film classics
Till I noticed one that caught my eye
It was, "Yentl" from the Eighties
Barbara Streisand as a boy,
Sounded kinky, so I thought..that's just my kind
I gave the clerk four dollars,
Kind'a high priced for old rentals,
But thought I'll get some "Yentl" on my mind

When I got it home and DVD it,
Credits jumped out bright enough to blind me
Was Barbra here, and Barbra there,
Co-wrote the script, produced it, and directed
I think she even ran the cam'ra's, sets and scen'ry,
Sang all of the songs,
Plus make up and clothes design..
Prob'lly helped out at the premiere,
Sellin' popcorn in the lobby
Control freak, Yentl tattooed on her mind

As the movie theme unfolded
Barbra dressed up as a boy
Enrolled in college..
A religious school, male only..
There she meets a guy
And likes him, wants to wed..
But he thinks she's a fella',
Fixes her up with his girl,
Who's a broad that's way too much
A clingin' vine..
And sure enough, she falls for Yentl,
Barbra, in the movie
Kinda' screwed up,
All this Yentl on my mind

The dang thing fin'lly ended
I just scratched my head and
Turned the DVD off..
Stirred up a little dinner,
And me and my old St. Bernard
Chowed down..
We both retired early,
But that video invades your dreams, I find
It's been days now since I've seen it,
But I can't erase the mem'ry
It's still rollin'..playin'..Yentl on my mind

I just can't get that Yentl off my mind
