MIKE’S WAY

Today I’ve come to here
To say my piece, and hope you listen.
I want to make it clear
Without this song, there’s much you’re missing.
It isn’t every year
We celebrate a special birthday,
But now’s the very time
To do it Mike’s way.

Regrets, well, over time
He’s had a few, but not too many.
I’ve heard that from now on
He’ll cut them out, there won’t be any.
He spent his working life
By working hard, but stopped each Friday,
But what was best of all
He did it Mike’s way.

There were some days when things got rough,
But through it all he just stayed tough,
He knew just when to get involved,
If things looked bad, he’d get it solved,
He could stand proud, and shout out loud,
I’ve done it Mike’s way.

He’s lived a life so full,
And even though he’s now reached eighty,
He’ll keep on going strong,
And I’m not wrong, he looks so stately.
I’m sure there’s lots to come,
You will agree with me when I say,
He’s gone and done it well
He’s done it Mike’s way
