Song Parodies -> "The Second Rhyme Around"

Original Song Title:

"The Second Time Around"

Original Performer:

Frank Sinatra

Parody Song Title:

"The Second Rhyme Around"

Parody Written by:

Airfarcewon

The Lyrics

Songs were made to dance
The second rhyme around
Twice as pun-derful
When humor is unwound

It's that second rhyme you hear
In old songs sung
Makes you think perhaps the words
Of spoof, are some that needed sprung

Old tunes, lyrical
The second time are boiled
Phrased satirical,
And rusty parts re-oiled..

Fate and luck
A twist, a tuck - with hope some gem is found
Critic's growl or purr,
To say which they prefer,
More shiny, or a blur,
The second rhyme around..

Truth be told, the classics seem to lend themselves to most agreeable spoofing. Liked this a lot.

Great work. Old songs are best parodied instead of covered as far as reworking them, I'm sure that Frank Sinatra, Al Jolson or Dean Martin songs would be awful-sounding if, say, Michael Buble was singing them, or Hank Williams Sr. and Tennessee Ernie Ford songs covered by Keith Urban. Sorry if I sound like I'm sucking up here, but as one of your first fans on AIR, I have to say that NOBODY does the golden oldies better than AFW. 5s.
