The Lyrics

Sanford, ya big dummy!

For those outside the country, Mark Sanford, the governor of South Carolina, just disappeared for 7 days. His staff thought he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail or off writing in solitude, his wife had no idea where he was (and apparently didn't care). Turns out he flew to Argentina to meet a woman he was having an affair with. A reporter caught him at the Atlanta airport, and to his credit, he didn't lie about where he was and why.
CNN and FOX are talking
The Gov from Carolina is missing
They said he’s writing, then said he’s hiking uh, whaaaa?

He was gone for seven whole days
He never said where he was going
And when they asked just one of his staff, they said, “ummmm?”

Ooh, but he wasn’t out hiking
No, he was using his passport
He took a flight from the country
Took a jaunt down to Buenos Aires *
To get some from his Latin squeeze

Yet another gov’nor’s failing
Some girl from Argentina he’s bonking
And when they caught him he cried, my apology
Here is my plea

-- guitar noodling while he talks about past adventures --

Ooh, he did ramble so strangely
‘Bout his love of Appalachia
And his kid's dinosaur bedsheets
Then he said that he left something out
He hasn’t been all that devout

MSNBC is talking
About his Argentinean sex fling
They say it killed his career, I guess we’ll see
Such tragedy
Infidelity
I’m sorry Jenny **
* I'm just guessing he flew into Buenos Aires
** His wife's name is Jenny

To call this DB a putz would be a major understatement. Nice job.

Mark - As I was writing it, I wondered if someone else would try the same song.

alvin - I can't decide if it is better or worse that his affair wasn't with an intern or secretary

AFW - thanx, dawg

JB - I'm assuming the DB doesn't stand for Defensive Back.

Lord McLEWD, this is a cute play on a situation that could be a 'veil' over a much more serious issue, Sir . . . the loss of thousands of JOBs in the Carolinas being aufSourced to INDIA & RedChina. Please sir, stay focused on the importance of another political charade.
