The Lyrics

I never realized quite how sensual describing pizza could be, until now. For some of you writers, this is right up your Red-Light District, and you'd probably take it where we angels fear to tread.
Joe Giuseppi's a pizza man.
Just like his daddy before him - he'd twirl by hand.
Crowds would gather by the front window,
Watchin' Joey da Pizza Pie-sano.
His Roman fingers could play piano.
Man he spun those pizza's high.
Chef Boy-ar-dee's nothin' like this guy, and . . .

The only boy who could over-feed me,
Is the son of a pizza man.
The only boy who would ever knead me,
Is the son of a pizza man
Yes he is, oooooh, yes he is!

Delicioso, and never greasy,
Mozzarella's piled high.
Joey's cuttin' one big, ripe cheesy.
Sez I can sample his fresh canneloni.
Sez he's got ample hot calzones.
I could die for his pepperoni!

The only boy who can over-heat me,
Is the son of a pizza man.
The only boy who will always (cool your jets, guys!) me,
Is the son of a pizza man.
Yes he is, yes he is, Mama Mia, yes he is!

How well I remember,
The sauce that went in those pies.
That sauce could make a girl's dough rise.
We're busy makin' thyme.
Don't know how, but this must rhyme.
Taught me to do it with garlic.
Ate my anchovies, and got sick.

And the only boy who could shake and bake me,
Was the son of a pizza man.
He's the only boy who has ever made me,
In a pizza delivery van.
Sono buono, sono buono - Sonny Bono?

Thanks everyone. Growing up in North Jersey, I was really spoiled when it came to pizza. Then I moved to SoCal, and pizza there was a big letdown. Now I'm in Seattle, and the pizza's a notch or two up from California, but for me, nothing beats a good ol' New York pizza. My wife, on the other hand, is a Chicago-style fan. For her, if the sauce isn't dripping off your chin, it's not a pizza.

Excellent parody, it really made me laugh! I love pizza, it's perfect for dinner when I'm home alone. I actually submitted misheard lyrics of this song and they're pretty close: "the only boy who could ever teach me, was a son of a pizza man", cos if I heard this song on a radio with a bad receiving signal, that would've been what I'd thought it sounded like.

Dave, you made me laugh with your parody of a song that I always thought was lame. Thanks! Makes me nostalgic for Gino's East in Chicago -- mmmmm!

I probably shouldnīt tell this, but I prefer pizza where the tomatoe sauce has been replaced with spinach, and the pizza dough has been substituted with taco bread, and the cheese... no just kidding, thereīs no substitute fo pizza cheese!

Know 1 - I often use spinach in my spaghetti sauce, which gives it a very robust flavor. IMO, real pizza is almost impossible to find outside of metro NYC. That's where the first parlor opened about a hundred years ago. You need naturally soft water for the dough to rise properly (NYC has this), and the pie needs to be cooked at very high temperature in a coal oven. It's safe to say that most folks west of the Hudson River have never seen a coal oven. If you only order Dominoes, Shakey's, etc. you don't know what pizza sauce is, 'cause they don't use it. Good pizza sauce should at least have the following in it: Fennel (the seed you find in Italian sausage), rosemary, oregano, Olive oil, GARLIC . . . and more garlic. Any of you guys who stil live in NYC want to add/subtract an ingredient? End of class - Let's eat!

David C - was trying to figure out how I missed this one, but now I recall: had no home PC on Feb 20th, was going to Library to check out site. They limit you to one hour Internet stints in Culver City and I didn't get there nearly every day anyway. Glad "Chef-Boy- Ar-Dee" posted a comment today or I might never have seen it. 5's

Best parody I've read in quite some time. And hands down best parody having to do with pizzas, I-talians and Italo-American lingo. And it sure doesn't hurt that I was a pizza delivery guy for more than two years.
