The Lyrics

Food cravings...you get that hankering for something that you know up front MIGHT not work too well in your digestive system but you WANT it anyway...Sometimes you pay the price more than once. And of course, I'm once again using another great CSN song from their first album (1969).
Going out to buy some chicken that is fried
Looking forward to some juicy breasts and thighs
Gonna drive down to the mall, pull out my best southern drawl
Fast-food clerk says "What can I get you?"

What to order? I am staring at the sign
Get 'Original' or maybe 'Crispy Fried?'
Hope this chicken is real fresh, not some bird that was distressed
Stuff I ate here last time made me puke

Hope that I am buying fried chicken that is fresh
Hope that they're not lying when they tell me it is fresh
Hope that this hen wasn't distressed
The thought of that makes me real stressed
Think I got ptomaine
I might have ptomaine

I feel cramps now in my stomach; there's a pain in there
I'd liked to fart, but I don't daaaa-aairrrre

I had better take Imodium real quick
Salmonella sure can make you pretty sick, ick, ick, ick ick
I don't want to take a chance of soiling my underpants
I'll sit on the can until I'm through
Oh man, it's blowing out -

Guess that they were lying when they told me it was fresh
There is no denying that my stomach's now a mess
Gross, endless sh*t's make me depressed

Guess that they were lying when they told me it was fresh
There is no denying that my stomach's now a mess
These endless sh*t's make me depressed

Think I got ptomaine
Might have got ptomaine
Lord, I've got.....

Johnny D - Thanks! I had a lot of fun writing this one. You wouldn't believe how many different parody themes I have tossed out in last few months trying to come up with a real good one for this song. The others all bogged somewhere around the middle. Gotta run now, going to lunch down at my old workplace with one of my former colleagues. I just wanted to see if the postings went up today. Will be back later today to look at yours and the other writers entries.

Alvin/Martha/Rick/Mer - Thanks! Alvin, yeah, I was singing this all day to the CD cut while I was driving around doing errands and such. One thing I have noticed is that when I can make a good parody version that sings well to the original I really get back the "fresh" feeling of enjoyment you experience when you hear a really neat song for the first time, especially one that has the kind of joyous, upbeat tone to it like "Marrakesh".

Guy, thank you...Say, would you like some fries with that? I also posted, "Waiter, My Fries" yesterday (Original song - "Doctor My Eyes" by Jackson Brown) http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/jacksonbrown1.shtml

(FOOD) See comments above. I'm getting seconds on that 5 piece finger lickin' deal by restoring my 5 vote for this song.

(FOOD) Props for working ptomaine into a parody. Down under we have quite the opposite, the chickens are so fresh many of our two piece-feeds have a pulse. Here's your 555th roll of paper.

(FOOD) not so much a food parody as an ex-food parody (I was thinking of using "pood" but opted for "ex-food" - hmm, might've been a mistake) reads well Paul and great OS to use
Paul Robinson - November 11, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Stuart - it was a fun number to write because of the upbeat energy of the OS...

FOOD - i take this parody to offense, discrimination against unfresh chicken is wrong
