The Lyrics

More food lyrics, when will it ever end?
Now when I was just a little boy,
Workin’ on my daddy’s farm,
Where Jersey corn’s sweet and you can sure betcha
That canned corn will do you some harm.
Especially creamed corn.
Especially creamed corn, now.

Now Libby’s Creamed Corn is the worst you can buy,
Runnin’ off our plates and hands,
And I can still see the crust on our fingers
Hardened on our new wedding bands.
Hardened on our new wedding bands.

Corn I won’t buy you;
Corn I won’t buy you;
Corn I won’t buy you;

Wish I found corn I could buy you,
Fresh and real sweet with some salt.
Melted butter bliss on our golden ears,
So worth the withdrawal from our vault.

Corn I would buy you;
Corn I would buy you;
Corn I would buy you;

I like to eat corn on the 4th of July,
But not the crap that Libby’s puts out.
And I can boil ears for 4 or 5 minutes,
Goes well with my BBQed trout
Goes well with my BBQed trout.

Corn I would buy you;
Corn I would buy you;
Corn I would buy you;

Ahh...Libbys! a trip down memory lane into the 70s when I was a wee lad. I remember eating that slop.

Yep, corn is such a pain to eat. I love corn on the cob, though. When I was two, my dad tried to feed me peas telling me it was "green corn", but even at that age I wasn't fooled by that. I knew it was peas he was feeding me at the time I hated peas. Tasty parody. Let me grow and harvest 555 ear of corns on the cornfield for ya!

I know that corn you grow in your own garden fresh off the stalk can be a real treat. In one episode of M*A*S*H Father Mulcahey grew corn so they could have corn on the cob for the Fourth. Then he was shocked to find that cook creamed all of it.

Wow, thanks so much, knew this was mighty corny coming off the pen (I write during Family Guy marathons on TBS), but I can truly hear John Fogarty garble these lyrics. Fine corn stories also, itsa shame we can't digest the little buggers. Maybe we should buy creamed...
