ON TOP OF MY GAME

I was always skinny as a child,
And my parents thought of me as meek and mild.
But when I was a teen, someone came on the scene,
Who became first my mentor then my guide.

You don't need reminding it was you,
You have guided me in everything I do.
And when I learned to run, it was more than just fun,
You inspired me when you taught me all you knew.

I'm on the top of my game feeling full of elation
And you're all the inspiration I require.
All the speed I have found is because you're around,

I'm just wondering how far I can go,
People say you need some luck and who you know.
All I want is to race and for them to see my face,
And in time I hope that all will know my name.

There is nothing more that I can do.
