The Lyrics

This was inspired by those Travelocity ads, then it sort of ran away with itself...PS, I don't own any lawn gnomes myself, and I think they're just plain stupid
In time long gone, you're on my lawn
But all of those folks had their jokes, didn't they?
People'd stare, say "Gnome is where? It's not out there"
I thought they were all kidding me
We used to laugh about
The lawn gnome that was sitting out
But now you're gone
Not on my lawn
And now I'm wondering what is the deal?

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be taken from home?
To locations unknown?
Like a roaming gnome?

You've been to the fine hotels, alright, Mr. Gnomely
But you know you've been photo'ed in it
But niobody has given me the name of the street
And I get absolutely no clues in the photos of it
I see those staring painted eyes
In that mystery place, and now I realize
Hre's not leaving clues to analyze
As he stares intot he vaccuum of your eyes
And asks you, "Do you want to make a deal?"

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be out all alone?
No way of getting home?
From locations unknown?
Like a roaming gnome?

I went and shopped around for flamingoes for the lawn and goofy porcelain clowns
Turned them all down cause they don't look quite like you
You never understood, cause you're plastic, or wood
Where did these other people end up taking you?
You used to hang with the sawhorse in my storage shed
And an old lawn gnome, shoulders sepearate from his head
Next to an old used sled
That really wasn't painted red
After he took from me the one gnome he could steal

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be out all alone?
No way of getting home?
From locations unknown?
Like a roaming gnome?

Under an old toy church steeple, with all the plastic people
They're not moving, losing you was strange
They were all kinds of precious gifts, these things
But now I'm talking to all these things, have I gone insane?
I used to be so confused
Now my mind has apparently been somewhat abused
The other guy's taken you, go with him, you can't refuse
When you lose lawn gnomes, you've got no more to lose
You're missing now, there's nothing left that's real

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be out all alone?
No way of getting home?
From locations unknown?
Like a roaming gnome?
