The Lyrics

it ain't so cool to seize and crucify, babe
though condoned..by the crowd
and it ain't so cool to sit and watch him die, babe
though the action's been allowed
sure ol' jesus crowed...and he told some yarns
"look out", some bellowed, to just forewarn
ain't no reason for offin' this pawn
don't kill christ...it ain't right

it ain't so cool, just turnin' off his light, babe
the light, that fiercely glowed
and it ain't so cool, your spurnin' what is bright, babe
he fights the dark side, i've been told
boy, i wish there was something i could do or say
to try and make you change your mind...today
you clever kids ...like to do things...your own way
but don't kill christ...it ain't right

it ain't so cool disparagin' his name, pal
you'd be wiser to ignore
it ain't so cool, you'll only spread his fame, pal
there'll be christians here, galore
its just stinkin' what you're plannin'...wrongful moral code
you must love your brother...too high is this toll
so just have a heart and don't murder this soul
don't kill christ...it ain't right

how...long...is it, babe
till this man...is a shell
some guys say...he's the lord, babe
so should we say "fare ye well" ?
i think slayin'...is a bit unkind
he's paid up his debt, here...but you seem blind
you don't wanna waste him...let him speak his mind
yeah, don't kill christ...it ain't right

I like it alvin. Doesn't sound preachy, but says what need to be said.

Well, this slayed me, alvin...Great job! Geez...I'm picturing some lunatic fellow writer trying to do a vocal overlay of this one...wonder if it might be interesting...think it would work well with my "Up on the Cross, Oh" piece from a couple years back, too...5's ~ ~ ~

Elegantly written and thoughtful parody, Al. I'd say that you nailed it, but that wouldn't be right. ;-) 555

'Course it would have kinda messed up the whole 'died for your sins' thing though. :-)
