Original Song Title:

"Like a Rolling Stone"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Bob Dylan

Parody Song Title:

"Like a Milestone"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

I don't know, somehow "eleven hundred" doesn't have the same oomph to it as "a thousand." If you don't mind me using a technical term like "oomph." Only three guys beat me to 1,100. It's just as well, they're all better at this than I am. But not by much.
(instrumental opening)

Once upon a night
you dressed so light
you found website
called Amiright.
Didn't you?

You heard the hype.
You had to type.
But then you gripe
because it's tripe.
I ain't kiddin' you!

You used to... laugh about
body parts that were... hangin' out.
Now you don't... talk so loud.
Now you don't... seem so proud
about having to be scrounging
for your next spiel.

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To type away at home?
To make your parody known?
Like a milestone?

(harmonica break)

Aw, you've gone to the finest school
all right, Miss Lonely.
But you know, they only
taught you... easy stuff.

Nobody taught you how to
parodize silly subjects
or even the... sleazy stuff.

You say you'd never parodize
about a mystery tramp
but now you realize
you ain't getting laughs from those guys
as you dot your T's and you cross your I's
and it seems as silly as
"Let's Make a Deal!"

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be in the zone?
As you type at home?
To make your parody known?
Like a milestone?

(harmonica break)

Aw, you never turned around
to type out the sounds
like a literary clown
and jot it down
so we'd get... puns from you!

You never understood
that it ain't no good.
That some kind of bum
would give... all ones to you!

You used to type on the keyboard
of an Apple set
until the Christmas when
a Commodore you'd get.
Ain't it hard when you discover that
your IBM crashed and your life went splat
after you failed to save your work
your fate you seal!

Aw!
How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be in the zone?
As you type at home?
To make your parody known?
Like a milestone?

(harmonica break)

Aw, videos that are streamin'
and rhapsodies Bohemian
you're just drinkin', thinkin'
all the good ones are made!

But soon Bush will do something
new that's stupid and then
you'd better type up, babe!

You used to be... so amused
at your local ballclub
and how it looked so confused.
Go ahead now, pay tribute.
You're so enthused.
Joy when you win's better
than lampoons when you lose.
You're so quizzical now.
So all your talent
you should reveal!

Aw!
How does it feel!
How does it feel!
To be in the zone!
As you type at home!
To make your parody known!
Like a milestone!

(harmonica fadeout)

Congrats on 1100! The line about Bush doing something new that's stupid made me laugh out loud. 555

you've covered the joy and the angst of being a parodist remarkably well

Michael Pacholek=eleven hundred parodies....Dee Range=one hundred parodies. Using George Bush's math ability, I am only 10 parodies behind you.

Stay the course, Dee, you're doing a lot better on this site than Bush is doing, well, anywhere. The difference is, when you do it, it's funny. When Bush does it... sometimes it's not funny at all.

Holy hell, my man. 1,100. Whoa. And I thought I was making progress. Haha but really - great parody, and good job. Really though, as a chronic sufferer from writer's block, I am in total awe haha. What's your secret?. But really - keep up the good work.

Congrats on 1100! You're invisible, you just got new puns to reveal. 555

My secret, Chris? People who write my material for me. Like politicians, entertainers, athletes. But, as I pointed out in the last verse, sometimes it's good to write about results you like! Like the recent election! Which reminds me. Hey, Sarcastic Paranoid, since you're too much of a chicken to allow comments: John Murtha is NOT a crook. And a Republican should NOT call a Democrat a "crook" on the anniversary of Richard Nixon's "I am not a crook" press conference! (November 17, 1973) The American Spectator said Murtha was a crook? They have as much credibility on politics as Courteney Love has on sobriety!
