Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Fame Is A Tragedy, Man"

Parody Written by:

Ethan Mawyer

The Lyrics

Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
I'm not greedy and I don't want chasing photo crews
Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
Since I hope they keep ignoring me on gossipy news

I would hate it if the entire world recognized my face
Life much too fast paced
And each small private disgrace
Would seem gigantic
Undoubtedly relationships are publicly displayed
Like my life's a parade, which just might make me afraid
To be romantic

Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
I'm not greedy and I don't want chasing photo crews
Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
Since I hope they keep ignoring me on gossipy news

Famous people seem to have houses of their dreams
With swimming pool and streams, driveway with limousines,
Impossible to clean, unless I bring in people
And their job's helping
But living there would make me just the kind of snob I hate
And it would isolate, me from my friends who are great
Fun but they are just not wealthy

Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
I'm not greedy and I don't want chasing photo crews
Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
Since I hope they keep ignoring me on gossipy news

Though I might have mansions, porsches, butlers
And lots of awesome stuff
It would never be enough,
Life for celebrities is tough
To want more's the price for all that ambition
And if you've climbed society's ladder to the top
Your sole option is to stop, and look way down at mom and pop,
And struggle greatly to not drop
Since a fall would hurt much more from that position

Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
I'm not greedy and I don't want chasing photo crews
Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
Since I hope they keep ignoring me on gossipy news

But I won't stop achieving just because I fear success
Because celebrity stress, would probably cause less
Pain than my regrets, of not doing my best
I'd never get to rest if in poverty
Best laid plans are known to go awry so I'll go with the flow
And hope I can always go, where all normal people can
And not think the street is Hell, always spend my money well
And hope that I can always tell who wants to hurt me

Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
I'm not greedy and I don't want chasing photo crews
Fame is a tragic thing man, none at all for me
Since I hope they keep ignoring me on gossipy news

This parody shows one hell of a lot of hard work put in. Congrats, Ethan, on a good message with a very challenging rhyme scheme to imitate. 555 d;:^)

Clever and great!

Brilliant, Ethan - very well constructed and on a theme I'd agree with. While it's not exactly funny, I'd say the message is very strong and well-put. I hope you'll consider this for SOTM :-)

I was gonna write something along the lines of "so why should we vote for you in SOTM" but your last part cleared out that idea. Remember though, when you reach the top, we do not want to see you have your house "burgled" for private videos of the Pamela Andersson or Paris Hilton type, unless of course youÂ're well masked and the other "playmate" is Pamela Andersson och Angelina Jolie. ;-)

Well done, Ethan. Good message which seems to reflect a Bob Dylan-type attitude.

All these idiots scrambling to embarrass themselves on reality TV are proving Andy Warhol right about everyone being famous for 15 minutes. I'd much rather be rich than famous (in case any of you out there are planning to offer me the choice). Great work, E-thang. Ditto Bob & Philbo.

Sometimes it doesn't matter whether it's funny or not. Sometimes you just need to say something that deserves to be said. ANd you said it well. Well written and 5s from me, Ethan.
