See the hive, how big it’s grown.
But, friend, it hasn’t been too long, there were no bees.
And then a queen bee came along,
Laid some eggs just after the last freeze.

Flowers bloomed and bees flew out
To gather nectar all about, wings a whirr.
Came flying back excitedly,
Danced to show the other bees where flowers were.

Queen bee always laying eggs,
Kinda yellow with six legs, loved by drones.
Worker bees selected her,
And fiercely protected her from threat’ning storms.

When the female worker bees
Leave the hive to go and seek for some nectar,
Males tend to copulate
With the queen and their fate is then to die.

All the eggs the old queen lays
Have potential to some day become a queen.
Usually in the early spring
When flowers bloom and robins sing, oh, so serene.

Every pleasant summer day
Worker bees forage away from the hive.
Bring back nectar from which to make
Honey which we then will take to spice our lives

Worker bees bring nectar back
To the hive in their stomachs and throw it up.
Regurgitated nectar then
Concentrates to the sweetened honey we love.
