I agree that there is not much of a cogent message, but one of their complaints that makes some sense is that they are annoyed that some Wall Street firms got bailed out. They are correct to be annoyed, but they should be annoyed at Washington, DC for bailing them out, not at Wall Street for accepting the bail outs.

John Jenkins said what I had thought all along: Blame DC for the bailout. Strangely, they don't. ... plus, do the protesters really think that adding a transactions tax is going to lower the protesters' cost of living, or that it will create more jobs?

Fiddlegirl's and TT's spin, part of the parody of entire musical, "My Fair Lady" used the original, as written by Lerner/Loewe, and aside from us using the intro, about 'Liza and the spoon, seems there was an instrumental where yours stops, then another stanza. But if Williams did just this (just as most versions of "White Christmas" skip the intro), cool. 444, + vote tax of 111 = 555.

The bailouts were proposed by Republican POTUS GW Bush, but Democrats controlled both houses of Congress. In each house, a majority of the Dems supported it, and a majority of GOP opposed it. So it was passed by a majority of Democrats against opposition by a majority of the (minority) Republicans.

I wonder if many of the protesters know that.

Re: Paulson: Check out Timothy Geitner's denial of knowledge of AIG bonuses, purchases of assets way above actual market value, etc. -- TG had about $350 billion left from TARP, and seemed to enjoy handing it out. He was instrumental in the bailout of Bear Sterns and AIG even as Pres. of the NY Fed.
          Plenty of blame to go around, but one keeps finding Democrats in this mess everywhere. Not excusing Bush or Paulson, just think both the media coverage and the protesters are missing some important points - but what else is new? Cheers.
