Original Song Title:

"Moon River"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Andy Williams

Parody Song Title:

"Pruned Liver"

Parody Written by:

Rick Cormier

The Lyrics

Pruned liver. Why do I just smile?
I tossed my lunch a mile today
Oh, drink maker, you tip taker
Whatever you're making,
They're making me sway

Twin sisters? No, there's just one girl
But quite a lot of girl is she
I ask, "IS YOUR NAME GWENDOLYN ??"
"Take a hike, my friend"
Her knuckles tear my chin
Pruned liver, can't see

(As the beautiful instrumental interlude fills the air,
our hero takes a number of well-placed punches to the face.
None of these hurts very much, due to his drunken state and,
he continues to smile. This has an infuriating effect on Gwendolyn
(whose real name is Jim), a Queen Latifah impersonator
with the drag troupe, "Gals with Balls",
which is appearing at the theater next door.)

(And now, back to our song.)

Pruned liver, off the seat I'm hurled
The room begins to swirl, I pee
Her laughter's insane! Elbows bent
Ways they shouldn't bend
Knees buckle, it's the end
Pruned liver . Poor me

"Twin sisters? No, there's just one girl", would that be beer binoculars? "I ask, "IS YOUR NAME GWENDOLYN ??"; that's REALLY dunk. Great job with the visuals during the solo too. 5 more rounds (either of drinks or boxing Draq Queen Latifah, lol)

Could be worse, could be a yellow liver. Then you'd have to fry it in some cold smoked brie. (Possibly my favorite parody title of all time.) Good job of taking an OS I don't like and turning it into a parody I like. And, while Andy Williams sang the movie theme and is generally credited with the definitive version, the Iceman, Jerry Butler, had the only actual chart hit with it.

Pruned liver? (I get that this has to do with drinking too much, or so I think, but not he main phrase as in relation to the violence).
Rick C - April 07, 2006 - Report this comment
Yes, Peter, it has to do with the effects of excessive drinking on the liver. Thanks.
