The Lyrics

Hmm... not a song to make any friends among the Judaeo-Christian fraternity. If I'm still posting tomorrow, you'll know that either:
i) God does have a sense of humour, or
ii) He doesn't actually exist
...I know which one my money's on ;-)
You are all-powerful, God
And Lordy you know it,
You can strike this poor beggar down
C'mon, have a go, it
Won't make you try that hard
You got me waiting - I'm not
Gonna wait that long, gimme your best shot

Strike me, smite me
Come on God Almighty
Think you can take me? I say "No!"
Strike me, smite me
Come on God Almighty
You got the power? C'mon give it a go

Christian bodies tell me I'm wrong
They say a mass for me
But there's a force driving me on
Into more blasphemy
So let them pray - I don't care
If I cause a schism
I get all I need from atheism

Strike me, smite me
Come on God Almighty
Think you can take me? I say "No!"
Strike me, smite me
Come on God Almighty
You got the power? C'mon give it a go
(repeat to fade)

Good job, Phil! But if the good Lord has mercy on your soul, how would you know? d;:^)

Phil, you bring up a powerful subject! I would love to see God's power, but I wouldn't want him to use it to strike me down--I want to see what positive changes that power can bring about in my life.

...unsmitten so far: even though I was singing it all the way home yesterday :-)

Your song lyrics Strike me smite me are totally ridiculous. A loving Father would never strike or smite the child he loves unconditionally for any reason. That doesn't mean that you can't go to hell if you want but it will hurt God's heart and He will shed a tear for you and any other person that chooses to ignore Him and His love for you.

Is this the same loving father who laid waste to two cities because he didn't like what they were doing there?
GOD - August 05, 2003 - Report this comment
YES, PHIL. YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT? AND JACK, MY HEART'S JUST FINE, AS ARE MY TEAR DUCTS, THANKS BE TO ME.

Hey... I've got GOD commenting on a parody: say, Mr Almighty: what did *you* think of it?

Hi, Jack. Remember me? I was one of God's favorites and He smote me, repeatedly, just to win a bet. Maybe you read about it?
MIchael Pacholek - October 09, 2003 - Report this comment
Maybe that was the original version of "Get a Job."
