The Lyrics

Dude has done extensive, elaborate and exhausting Christmas preparations, but something elusive is still missing...

A YouTube version of the original song can currently be found here.
I've been up an' round since twentythree
Took the night to deck the halls and tree
Had some lutefisk downed near the fire
And I've set the milk and cookies, now I'm tired

Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Get a Santa here!
Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Why ain't Santa here?
Chimney time is up and I'm down fore sure
Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Get a Santa here!
Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Why ain't Santa here?
'Cos this time I've given it all and more
Ho! Ho! Ho!

Here I sit and wait with kids enthralled
Maybe he's held up down at the mall
More time pass, on phones the kids now play
Oh, why can't Nick wrap up this waiting game

Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Get a Santa here!
Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Why ain't Santa here?
I've been VIP-indebted down at the store
Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Get a Santa here!
Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Why ain't Santa here?
'Cos this year my wallet has bled for sure

Just petty cash to hold us
Where is the sleigh? Yule is about to end
No! No! No!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Get a Santa here!
No! No! No! No! Why ain't Santa here?
Ain't got strength to stay awake anymore
Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Get a Santa here!
No! No! No! No! Why ain't Santa here?
With the kids I'm passing out on the floor
Ho! Ho! Ho!

Ah, things to look forward to as my son gets older. And memories of my daughter sleeping under the Christmas tree. Merry Christmas!

Love how we both had the same title and idea but went in complete opposite ideas in terms of theme! This was very sweet & innocent while mine was more rebellious and raunchy such as both of us writing about the outdoors in the Feel It Still round.

Cute story, and sort of like The Last Jedi it succeeded in not living up to expected conclusions in the climax (in a good way, knowwhatimean?).

Hey Ag, what the hell do you know of "The Last Jedi?" I ask because 90% missed the message of the ending, especially with the last scene. I know what it means, do you? But then, I'm a die-hard fan since 1977. Btw, when Yoda said "No, there is another", it wasn't Leia. That other is the slave stable boy in the last shots of Episode VIII. Temiri Blagg, the new Luke Skywalker chosen by the Force as the Light to counter the coming Darkness. No more Jedis or Sith. No more bloodlines. The Last Jedi was Luke and he died of his force projection feat. Rey did not become a Jedi and her parents were nobody drunks. Sorry if my comments are the ultimate spoilers.

Rob,all I was trying to say was that I wholly expected the parody to end with a punchline regarding Santa...and it didn't happen, but I still enjoyed the ride. Last Jedi had many expectations that some people wanted, yet didn't get--, and for that I loved the movie. I would say it is probably my favorite film of 2017. I am an admirer of the SW saga, but not anything near a fan as you obviously are, so I am not about to argue with you on any thing regarding it. But your perception of my perception of the movie does not give you the right to bust my balls. Happy Christmas.

Thanks for the spoilers Rob - I haven't seen the movie yet! :-(

It must not have been a very good ending if 90% missed the message, or would you call a missille/weapon with that hit ratio a good one? Then again movies where 100% of the audience gets everything are pretty boring. You should collect all your SW knowledge into an "Imagine (all the plot twists that are set up)" to a well known John Lennon song or something. But please add a big fat spoilers alert in the intro!

My apologies to Agrimorfee and Peter. I misinterpreted what AG wrote. Have a Merry Christmas!
