The Lyrics

An ultra-runner gets lost in the hills and things play out pretty much like in a famous movie from 1972. I won't tell which one today, I'm letting you guys race each other to possibly find out and to be the first to deliver that information in the comments thread. :-)

A YouTube version of the original song can currently be found here.
He's turning back on a shelf
Think he's gotten lost
Oughta trace back on himself
From caves where wolfs or bears hide an' feed
And he's picking up some new speed

Oh no, he's way lost out in the sticks now
He's been out since yesterday at zero six now
Might be really lost, in the effing hills

Oh no, he's way lost out in the sticks now
Think his GPS is really on the fritz now
He's run out of chow, and it's getting chill

Got another chafe that bleeds
Really need to find a shitter
Why are all the bugs there bigger?
Sounds under fallen leaves
And he's picking up some more speed

Oh no, he's way lost out in the sticks now
He's not even near a decent Motel 6 now
Why'd he do this drill, oughta roll downhill

Oh no, he's way lost out in the sticks now
Last mark seen said this route's number's six-six-six now
Are those carcass' cows? Now he's standing still!

He could really go for peas
(Oh no, he is hungry in the sticks now)
Gone into some carbo cravings
Wish he had some Mac and Cheese
Starts searching for some honey bees
Then he's screaming as they chase him down
(Oh no, he is stung out in the sticks now)
He's losing it a little
From the sound of a giggle
He folds and then he falls
Oh, mercy him!

Is it morning?
Is it evening?
Is it warming?
Is is freezing?
Are none coming?
Is he getting back?

Oh no, he's way lost out in the sticks now
Climbing out a gorge that he just have to bridge an'
Might be rednecks there, but he'll crest the hill

Oh no, he's way lost out in the sticks now
He hear banjos playing, and he's seen the flick so
Here they're coming now, billies from the hills

Oh no, he's way lost out in the sticks now
He is squealing like a pig for crazy hicks now
Hope it's over soon, 'cos he's feeling ill
As they have their fill, but he knows the drill

-Ride back?
-A snack?
-Flapjack?
-Ice pack?
-Please!

Yes!!! You DELIVERED US a great parody here Peter! I know that you're a runner so I liked that we got to learn a bit more about you with this parody like my parody from last week about selling cars! Honestly I think this was one of my favorites I've seen by you. No or few million dollar words chosen here which allows my puny brain to read it and fully enjoy it even more! I really liked your switches on "is it coming" and everything else overall.

He "knows the drill"? ouch. You have a way with words as always, Pete. Although not the same as running, I haven't gone camping since the 1980s, and this parody does not inspire me to pursue that activity further (let alone long-distance running)!

Ah, the "effing" hills -- they're the worst kind! Seriously, you shore got a purty parody here; now Ima go to the Motel 666 and get some mac n' cheese

Apparently you and Matty both decided to go wild with this one. I think I'll stick inside though--both your parodies add to my argument.

As a runner I really enjoyed this one. Matched great with the original, something to add to my running songs list!
