I have not left the house all day
Was supposed to return to work yesterday
Staying home has been getting old
But a baby-sitter costs as much as gold

I have to pee
But my youngest needs me
To turn on the T.V.
For “Bubble Guppies”

I hear the show from the kitchen, so I ask him
Nicely to please turn it down
Because I’d like to enjoy my coffee in peace, but
My request fell on deaf ears

He, he just whined

Making plans? Impossible
I can’t find people nearby responsible
Enough to watch my little ones
And my children’s father always works past one*

Got a headache
Must catch a break
God, what did I

I hear the kids in the living room complaining
They missed their fav’rite cartoon
Their cer-e-al was starting to get soggy, so they
Ate it all with their fingers

So then they whined

I want to pour myself a margarita
So large that I forget that there are kids around
Fighting for who will get Mommy’s attention
While they just whine, they just whine

Hear the kids in their own bedrooms, they argue
Over which toys they will share
Been trying hard not to let myself go insane, but
There is a war in my home
