The Lyrics

There is an art to flying, or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
Don't know how to explain all this
I'd sound insane but you saw all of it
Woke up late, felt drained as shit
And so I didn't notice that pen upon the floor before I tripped (I didn't spot it so I tripped)
Should've ended up in traction
But somehow I still haven't landed

I missed the floor, how is that true? Confused
I missed the floor, somehow I flew (it's not a thing that one should miss)
I missed the floor, I'm so confused, it's true
I missed the floor, what did I do (it doesn't line up with physics)?

No explanation inside my brain
I should have broken my nose, cracked my skull a bit
And to use the world's biggest "if"
If you can fail to hit the ground, how can you float in place (no way I could float in place)?
I'm filled with so many damn questions
And maybe just a bit of helium

I missed the floor, how is that true? Confused
I missed the floor, swear I'm not boozed (nor high on hallucinogens)
I missed the floor, I'm so confused, oh, it's true
I missed the floor, wonder: can you?

Give it a crack, see if you'll lift off of your feet and keep them lifted
I trust that you can find the trick (if not, serves you right for your laughing fits), ho-oh

I missed the floor, how is that true? So confused
I missed the floor, I somehow flew (I didn't do it on purpose)
I missed the floor, I'm so confused (does this mean I'm a mutant?), oh, it's true
I missed the floor, won't go for two (don't wanna risk a broken neck)

Oh-oh-oh-oh (I'd rather come down and stay put)
Oh-oh-oh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh (flying is cool, though, tempting hook)

You know, I've parodied several songs from Katy Perry's album Witness, yet I still have one burning question: what in the holy hell is up with that album art?! Just because you're going for purposeful pop, Katy, doesn't mean you have to go far a hard turn into body horror. Yeugh.
