Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Based on a true story.
She made a wish, no hard sell
Just to be a mother swell
Her wish came true, magic spell
A small babe came her way

The boy has soul, we love this
Loves to play games, hug and kiss
For this mom there is much bliss
But she has this to say

My son, you’re growin’
But gosh, one thing’s goin’
Not right, word you spokin’
Why do you call out my name, Mary?

Now I must raise you
Don’t drive me crazy
I am your mother
So call me Mommy!
It doesn’t sound right
From you, baby
I am your mother
So call me Mommy!
Don’t use my first name
Or call me “Lady!”
I am your mother
Just call me Mommy!
Look at the other boys
Speak properly!
Do me a favor
Please call me Mommy

Take an emergency call
I take a terrible fall
They won’t believe you at all
By naming me that way!

Please understand how I feel
This “I love Mary” deal
I just don’t know why you do it
This is not a play

My name you’re callin’
Embarrassment growin’
Not right, I’m knowin’
Now watch now what you’re saying, baby!

Hey, I breastfed you
Though that time’s hazy
I am your mother
So call me Mommy!
Please just do this right
For me, baby
Don’t make me blubber
Just call me Mommy!
You know I love you
I know you love me
I’m not your lover
Please call me Mommy!
Buy you a hundred toys
And a pony
Please start this summer
Please call me Mommy!

Before you came into my life
I wanted kids bad
I wanted kids bad
I wanted kids, kids bad
And now you took over my life
I’m feeling so glad
And when you grow up
I’ll miss you so , so bad!

But let’s get this right
For you, baby
Since I’m your mother
Just call me Mommy!
Yes, I do mean YOU
And not your Daddy
I am the other
So call me Mommy
You make a lot of noise
That don’t faze me
I still can slumber
But call me Mommy!

You bring such joy into my life
I’m feeling so glad
I’m feeling so glad
I’m feeling so, so glad
Before the end of my life
I wish this so bad
That you should know that
You call me MOMMY!

Reminds me of that scene in Animaniacs. "Okay lady, I love you, bye-bye"

That was also on my mind, Matthias. "Mindy & Buttons" is one of my least favorite Animaniacs segments (second only to the "Hip Hippos"), so that was definitely not the primary focus of this parody! :)

I was kind of expecting a twist at the end where the kid is like 28 years old, but this was still really funny and you matched it up with the OS really well. Solid work!

I can relate to this. One time, when I was a lot younger my mother and I were driving thru a very distinctive part of Phoenix known as Sunnyslope; and I startled her by asking, "Mommy, is Sunnyslope a part of Phoenix or is it a separate municipality in its own right" And she answered "It's part of Phoenix, CML .. and BTW, stop calling me Mommy; that's no way for a 20-year old to talk." ............ At which point I responded, "But Shirley ... you dont want us to be on a first name basis, do you?" And she said, "No, of course not -- and stop being so sure about everything."

(ABC) Like Abbott, I was expecting a twist (though in my head the twist was that the kid was Jesus). Little repetitive, but still enjoyable and kinda sweet. 555!

great job on a really repetitive os

(ABC) I totally made a Jesus connection too, TCOP. A little repetitive and didn't go very far beyond the base premise. Very enjoyable though, just didn't really go anywhere for me. If the Jesus thing is what you were going for, maybe take that a step further and make it very obvious. Playing with theology is always fun (ie Bruce Almighty)
