Most characters on TV should grow
But on The Simpsons, that's a "no"
Take one trait, bring it to the fore

Once I laughed, now my eyes just roll
The writers these days get Ned Flanders wrong
Once brought laughs, now he's filled with straw
Brings me childhood pains, this Ned Flanders flaw

Some claim my frown
At this turn is misaimed now
"It's a cartoon sitcom, how
Do you think you'll find here
Development
Of a character? A farce
Can't work when there is nuance
So blow it out your ear"

I'm well aware of that, not a dope
It's the change that has brought me low
From better neighbour who's abhorred
To religious strawman, that blows (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)

No more laughs, my conclusion's drawn
The writers these days get Ned Flanders wrong
Try for laughs but their game ain't strong
All of them today get Ned Flanders wrong

And so that's my simple basis
For flippin' by when it's playin'
Convertin' my show once favoured
To Fam'ly Guy, except just a tad less hateful

Tiny laughs once a blue moon cause
The writers these days get Ned Flanders wrong
I might laugh, I'll wish I had not
Cause the show just plain gets Ned Flanders wrong (lame, lame, lame)
Hard to laugh when the whole scene's off

The whole cast has changed, I'm peeved
