The Lyrics

Okay, I am breaking all my rules by doing this...as I'm fairly certain that the majority of you all will NOT know this song. At least...since it's not from 1998 or earlier...nor is it country...I haven't heard it on the radio here in Wyoming...not sure if it's getting radio play in the other 49 states...or around the world. Anyway...I've been a fan of TMBG's older stuff...and I just discovered this one this week. It's been bouncing around in my head ever since...and the new lyrics snuck in at some point...I'll put a link down at the bottom where you can hear the song...(not to mention, watch a ridiculously cool video by my favorite websters at homestarrunner.com)...enjoy...
The color of my KFC
Should not resemble grass
The turkey on rye
Is crawling off; it's gone, it's gone
And out of sight

It's all got a residential film
Yes greenish fur grows on my sandwich
I'm still figuring out, 'cause I don't know
What is that residential film?

Bleah!
My food is all covered in this residential film
This pizza's been here since last May, ick
And my bread just look how gray it is

The leftover smells are blending
I'm so sick I think I might explode
I don't normally want to explode
But that's the breaks when bad smells blend

And what is that residential film
Oozing out of my casserole dish
I'm still grossing out and plugging my nose
I don't like residential films

Bleah!
My food is all covered in this residential film
Oh, and it just made my Great Dane sick
And my bread just look how gray it...
So alive that I could train it
And my bread just look how gray it is

(instrumental)

The odor of the worst gangrene
And my appetite clash

Enough of this residential film
My icebox looks like a petri dish
Guess I'll order take-out, 'cause I won't go
Back to that residential film

Bleah!
Who knows what could be here in this residential film
And even though I wanna tame it
I'll admit that I'm afraid it's gonna--

Bleah!
I can't escape from all this residential film
So from the 'fridge I must abstain, ick
It's so thick I can't see straight it
Overgrown, I can't explain it
And my bread just look how gray it is

The first time I DKTOS you chose! I have a slight knowledge of TMBG: Ana Ng, Purple Toupee, Cowtown, Birdhouse In Your Soul, Particle Man, Dead, Lie Still Little Bottle, Istanbul (Not Constantinople), They'll Need A Crane, I've Got A Match, Shoehorn With Teeth, Twisting, Snowball In Hell, Rabid Child, and Don't Lets Start come to mind.....but this one beats me....I'll have to track it down...

Kristof...Did you read my initial comments???? I left a link to the song in my end comments on parody. It's the song in full, along with a fabulous HSR video. Get on the ball, mister!

Doh!

Yup - I just heard it like two days ago for the first time, as I make it a point to check everything ever done by the HSR team ;-). Anyway, I'm confused by the term "residential" to mean "disgusting" - as far as I knew, the term only meant "relating to a place where living quarters are", and m-w.com agrees with me. Other than that, though, quite amusing.
Arwen - July 15, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, nem...but I never meant for residential to mean "disgusting." I just meant residential as in...it's residing in the 'fridge...the mold, etc. "lives" in the 'fridge...

Sweetie! I can't believe I missed this one this morning! I normally scroll down through original songs, and just read the ones I know, and I don't know this one either. But knowing you, I'm sure it's the greatest. Again, I apologize for my tardiness on this comment. I will try to listen to the song tonight since I don't have speakers on my work computer...

That was just sick and wrong! I like it!!!! 555

ASHKICKSASS...I will forgive you because I know you're in for a treat if you check the link out...maybe it's something only HSR fans can appreciate...but I think it's awesome! COOKIE-MAN...thanks a bunch, buddy!! I NEVER do songs that I don't think are universally known...so I really felt like I was going out on a limb with this one...I'm so glad you liked it!!!

OH MY GOSH!!! I wasn't going to comment on this or vote because I didn't know the original, but I just visited Homestar and heard it...It's fate - God knew you deserved fives from me.
EmiLoca - July 15, 2004 - Report this comment
..meaning I didn't go there because you told me to, I did because I visit it regularly. And I didn't read your top comments - I never do. :-) By the way, that's a really awesome song...and video.

EMI!! So happy to find a fellow HSR fan...=) Isn't it the greatest (present site excluded) site ever?? I just love it. One day I'll marry Matt Chapman. It's a goal, anyway. Thanks for the 5s, darling! And TTP...let me know what you think when you get around to checking the song out...=) Thanks for stopping by anyway...=)

TMBG is a great band. Good driving music. Have you seen the movie the name came from? George C Scott thinks he's Sherlock Holmes.
Arwen - July 16, 2004 - Report this comment
I don't think I have, Rick...I'll have to see if I can find it...

2004 NOMINATION: FASTEST TIME FROM SONG RELEASED TO PARODY COMPLETED! I only heard this once, live in Chicago last week. I'm not familiar enough with it to give it a full judgement, but it works. Gotta get this album (though I heard reviews that it was not a great album...) I'm slightly disappointed that your parody wasn't about my favorite band and inspiration, The Residents! :D
Arwen - July 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Agri...you can go ahead and write the Residents piece...as I don't know their work and therefore wouldn't do them any kind of justice. Thanks for stopping by...=)

I know this song, have all the albums ('cept for Here Comes the ABC's, their newest ones.) Anyway, this song reminds me of Weird Al's Living in the Fridge, and it was quite entertaining....

Btw, this is from 2004, and some people might know it since it's from homestarrunner.com too. It's strange how you get so many comments from such an unknown song.
Arwen - May 09, 2005 - Report this comment
Dominic, I'm not sure what the 2004 bit of your comment was about...

But people leave comments on my songs, even if they don't know the OS, because talking to me makes them cool by association...hehehe. (totally kidding...that IS why people comment on Apricot's songs, though...; )...)

I don't remember what the 2004 part is about either, oh well.
