The Lyrics

Hadn't realized no one had used this OS off the 'Peppers' fine "By The Way" CD from 2003 yet on this site. When I wrote this I didn't think I'd actually broken my toe, but it appears now I may have, since it's still badly swollen almost two weeks later...but I didn't do it the way the parody describes...lol...
[guitar intro]

My toe, Oh no
It's broke, my toe

Was running in the park
I slipped and skidded on dog-doo
That dog-dip reeked so awful, man
It smelled so really screwed

Didn't fall, but came down wrong
On the side of my shoe

Could not walk when through
Foot felt really screwed

Broken toe will need a screw
And won't fit in a shoe
It's all black and blue
And all swollen, too

That sure does bite
I'll walk with limp at home and then at school
I'll whine each night for sev'ral months
It is a good excuse

[guitar instrumental]

I broke my toe
"It's broke", I moan

I'll hobble 'round
On my feet
Lay down and complain to you
I'll keep my Mom awake
And take the next week off from school

Took a fall and I did sprawl
To miss that rank dog poo
It's hurts; that's sure true
Foot's swollen and blue

Man, it hurts so when I try to put it in a shoe
That feels really screwed
Relief; overdue

Toe does not feel right
It still has this real nasty bruise
I hope in time that
It will not hurt when I wear a shoe

[instrumental break with looping electric guitar – a la "George Harrison"]
{I broke my toe}
{It's broke, my toe}
{"Oh, no", I groan}
{I groan, "My toe"}

Broken toe sure bites
It hurts bad and it's black and blue
Makes me uptight to wear this heavy cast
Around, P.U.

I broke my toe
So broke, my toe
Oh no, my toe
I moan and groan

Foot's swollen and blue
It feels really screwed
It's more than just bruised
Seems I broke my hoof

I moan and groan
I broke the bone
Oh woe – my toe
I broke – my toe

Thanks, Pat - glad you enjoyed it. Good news! Toe does not seem to hurt at all today (so far)...maybe I "exorcised" the pain with this parody...lol...next...er..."Step"...is to try it with dress shoes (ugh!)...and see if I can handle that...

alvin & Rick C - Thanks! BTW - Toe is feeling quite a bit better today, although it really wishes I didn't have to wear dress shoes in the office right now (we have client's visiting today...taking a class, etc..).
