The Lyrics

I complain cause it’s snowing although the month is June
The powder is waist high but it’s the time for our swimsuits

Got the flu… Heard me sneeze
Barbeque while I am wearing skis

It’s summer but I’m wearing gloves
There goes my part-time job as a lifeguard
Ice cream trucks traded for snowplows
Weather forecast is making me frown
It’s summer but I’m wearing gloves!!!
Snow!!!

They’re playing baseball in the blizzard in the hail in the sleet
My lips are turning blue but I’m still heading to the beach

My canoe’s… In the lake
But I’m screwed cause the ice won’t break

It’s summer but I’m wearing gloves
I gave up the surf for a snowboard
It’s so cold milkshakes come from cows
Wearing cargo shorts I look like a clown
It’s summer but I’m wearing gloves!!!
No!!!

Bizarre!!!

Iced tea brewed… Goes to waste
Hot chocolate has now filled my face

Snow!!!

It’s summer but I’m wearing gloves
I crave to be out in a golf cart
Hang a star upon the highest bow
The holidays have just been rewound
It’s summer but I’m wearing gloves!!!
Cold!!!

Are you aware that gloves can be sexy, Squire Mathtias ! ! Check out the card section at LONGs Drug Store! They have a B-Day card with a Cowboy standing in the tall grass . . wearing only chaps, Stetson & deerSkin workgloves . . . . hubba . . . habba . . I feel faint . . . . Ay cohiba !

It's almost that bad over here too, flavour of the year seems to be global chillin'...

Crazy. . .Well it's hot here where I am, of course it got hot where I am in April, but you should go back to Florida:) Fun OS To hit, something tells me this would be a challenge to perform though. . .5s

Thanks All... We've had a stretch of unsummerly weather earlier this week, not bad enough to start snowing but bad enough that I had to wear a hoodie and pants in June which kinda sucks!

Squire Matthias, try a Stetson, Sir ! I do guarantee it will 'heat up' the scene . . .

Hate the OS, love the parody. I heard it snowed in North Dakota. Then again, it snows frequently in North Dakota. I can't believe nobody made a Michael Jackson joke.
Silver Power - July 02, 2009 - Report this comment
I'm assuming by now it's too late to make that Michael Jackson joke, MP? Lol, funny parody, but it's nice and warm here by the Jersey Shore. 555.

Never heard the OS until I read this. Not about your parody, but what kind of video was that? I liked your parody better than the OS. We finally got some 100's around here so we're back to normal but cold June's get 1's. Your song gets 5's though.

SOTM: 555 all the way!! I love the contrasting situations (BBQ while wearing skis ect...) excellent job!

(SOTM) Although each chorus was two lines too long (at least according to the YouTube video), a concept and execution like this is very well worth the fives! And watch out for Sharks in the ice.

SOTM - Still enjoyed, the second time around...

Someone should point out the subtle bonus humour of using a song by The Darkness for this Summer Song, nice touch there Matthias. ;-)

(SOTM) You sure you weren't accidentally loaded on a plane heading for Australia during one particularly heavy drinking binge? Our seasons are actually the other way around (winter in June, summer at Christmas, etc.). And Silver Power is right, MJ jokes are NOT FUNNY for the time being. Anyways, 555 for this odd little song!

SOTM...I took this one to heart, actually, as we've had unseasonably cool weather this past week. It really feels like October when I get up in the morning, and today...on July 30th, I passed a guy on my way to work who was wearing a stocking cap and gloves. So sad!

Uh, Matty, I'm sorry, but while parts of this were funny, what happened to the rhyme scheme, The verse's rhyme scheme was totally omitted here Feeling, Feel and Wheel rhyme dude, Snowing, June and Suits do not. . .that goes for blizzard, sleet, beach as well. You know I like the idea, but the rhymes on a short song like this are way too important to miss, it messes the flow of the song up, sorry. . .

SOTM...Wimp. Up here in Greenland we wear t-shirts and shorts in July no matter what the weather. Summer is a state of mind. Frostbite builds character.
Phil Alexander - July 31, 2009 - Report this comment
Weird... seriously weird :-)

This is one of my favorite songs, but I can't relate to this one - it's 100+ degrees out where I live. Cute concept. The only thing that occasionally got me was the syllable stress sometimes didn't match the stress of the lyrics, but that didn't detract much at all. Well done. :)
