This just popped into my head last night, and I whipped it out during the break between my 8:00 chem and my 12:00 physics. Continuing my evergrowing set of songs about college, this one is about my initial fears and impressions of the workload at my Alma Mater. I don't think it'll really be this bad, but the song was too absolutely perfect not to parody this way. By the way, ITR stands for "Ineligible to Return," or if you ask the right person, "Invited to Retire," and sleep dep is short for sleep deprivation, one of the more common phrases you hear at Mudd.

What happened to me?
I've gotten A plusses so long now in this game.
Now I'm getting Ds
and maybe Fs and it is drivin' me insane.
And though I try to do the homework I'm given,
I'm don't know where I should begin.

I'm failing, I'm failing...
Now I'm in over my head, I don't get what's said,
Completely misread the text, now I'm dead.
And now I can see, how screwed you can be,
This complete sleep dep's beginning to get to me.

say all the profs because the profs are really lame.

I've met our teachers, they don't even know our names.
And if I had to ITR to leave this hell,
I'd say that sucks, but hey, oh well;

Happens every year, to the engineers.
I'm not awake enough to do this chem lab.

I used to drink a few beers before writing to get inspiration. Now I find sleep deprivation works just as well, and it's much cheaper.

Really, Rick? I find sleep deprivation kills my parody output: the creativity is usually still there, but the short-term memory goes and I forget the good ideas. Rather like what's happening in the parody, in a way.

Hehe... Meriadoc, don't look at *me* for that... only currently popular songs I know are a. ones that I see parodies of here or elsewhere and b. songs I hear a capellaized. Hearing the original songs always comes later.

Ha! I dl'd the song, sat and listened and for the life of me could not match the lyrics to anything I was hearing. Then I started questioning my own sanity, as the people above had said nothing about pacing. Then I realised the dl was Fat Lip, not Over My Head, even though that's what the title said. Once I found the RIGHT song....good one!
