The Lyrics

I decided to go back to go back to my roots and write a parody using a Savage Garden song. I picked "The Lover After Me" and wrote about the title "The Tension and the Spark" of Darren's upcoming album. Even though I explain it in the song, I just want to make it clear that I didn't get to go to the listening parties (boo-hoo) and I haven't gotten to read many LP experiences/stories, so I really, truly (madly, deeply), don't know what the album is about, or why he named it "The Tension and the Spark." This parody is about the confusion that I felt when I first read the title of the album.
Here I go again, I promised myself that I would write this parody
About Darren's newest CD,
That's not out
But some fans already heard it

They had some listening parties to hear the upcoming album
However, I just couldn't go
So I have no clue about
Whatever the CD sounds like at all

Ever since he announced
The name of the CD
I've been racking my brain
About what it could mean
It's not "Spin"
It's not "Darren Hayes"
It is called
"The Tension and the Spark"

Is it only me in the universe
Who thinks the title's strange?
I tried to analyze it using physics
But it made me more confused

So this is my dilemma
I wonder, if it contains symbolism
And nothing seems to make sense anymore
Is it just a long extended metaphor?

So now it's Darren's fault
For telling us the name
"Cause I just lost my mind
And he should be ashamed
What the hell
Was he thinking of?
He named it
"The Tension and the Spark"

Could he mean relationships?
The whole "tension' of dating?
Until you find the one
Who causes your heart and soul to "spaaark'

Ha-a-ahh

Here I go again, I promised myself that I would write this parody
About Darren's newest CD,
"The Tension and the Spark"
Such a mystery

So I think everyone
Can draw their own outcomes
While I sit in this room
That has blue padded walls
The tension
The tension it caused
In my life
"The Tension and the Spark"
Oh no no
Oh no no
The tension
The tension it caused
In my life
"The Tension and the Spark"
"The Tension and the Spark"

"The Tension and the Spark" refers to a song on the album called "I Like the Way" where he says "I like the way you move in the dark / I like the tension / the tension and the spark".
