The Lyrics

If "No McNair" took care of a WR's sorrow after losing his favourite QB, but what about a QB that can pass well, but never have the chance to start a game, and ended up going somewhere else to find a starting job, and "his catching mate"?
I wondered why I’m forced out of Chesapeake Bay
How did I end up with the lowest veterans’ pay
When you’re cut then traded, all the scenery looks the same
And you don’t know why, when I threw it to your thighs
And this hand stretched out in front of me, and I realize

I can’t complete before your gloves
I never found the one I trust
I never needed anyone to cap my 80-yard drive
But then again, I wasn’t really heaving
I never heaved before your gloves

I wanted more than just a rating of 65
All of my dreams ended when Bill said goodbye
I stand before you when my life is in your hands
And I don’t know how you can catch my 16 heaves
Now you’ve given me a reason to exist

I can’t complete before your gloves
I never found the one I trust
I never needed anyone to cap my 80-yard drive
But then again, I wasn’t really heaving
I never heaved before your gloves
I won’t believe the first downs you tucked

And I don’t know why, why they drafted this cool guy
But you give me a big lifeline, just in time.

I can’t complete before your gloves
I never found the one I trust
I never needed anyone to cap my 80-yard drive
But then again, I wasn’t really heaving
I never heaved, I never heaved before your gloves
Thanks to NFL.com, I've found my two subjects: But can you guess who I'm referring to?

Gloves & drives ? ? Is this about Golf or football, Sir ?
Rocky Mak - September 05, 2008 - Report this comment
It is about American football. Receivers are allowed to wear gloves to improve catching. Drive in American football is just a term for continuous series of offensive possession. With that cleared up, can you guess who I got the inspiration from?

Welcome to AmIRight Rocky. Good job with the rhyme scheme, and pretty tight on the pacing. Though on a comedy scale I'd normally say '4' here, but considering it's the very first thing I've read by you--you get 5's from me because most stuff I read by new participants rarely follow the rules of pacing and rhyme scheme. . .keep it up.

I do have a tendency to bend the pacing a bit, but then it makes sense when I practice singing it. Oh, the answer of the two guys I got the inspirations for this song: Derek Anderson & Braylon Edwards.
