The Lyrics

Very catchy tune - about being your own person and blah blah blah...I just always thought it was funny because when I hear the word "minority", I don't usually think of privileged white rock stars

Anyway, here's to you, Mr. Honorary Black Guy, good luck with that
I wanna be a minority
White boy guilt gives me jealousy
All you oppressed folks are so lucky
So - I wanna be a minority

I pledge allegiance to my urban bros
I emulate their language and appropriate their clothes
I have black friends, my favorite color's brown
I've even said
The n-word when
There's none of them around

Cause - I wanna be a minority
So darn bummed about slavery
Feeling their pain's really hard for me
Cause - I wanna be a minority

Safe suburban snob
From a Mister Rogers 'hood
Looking for a job
Pull my pants up now
The whitest guy you know

My ride - outside -
Wakes you from your nap
Rousted by the racket of aggressive gangsta rap
I groove tight jams - some might call debris
They're all about
How brothers want
To bust a cap in me

Cause - I wanna be a minority
I'm not white; I'm green with envy
Sad my life has been ghetto-free
So - I wanna be a minority

Tonight - a sight -
Flashes in the dark
Lively comic style of the astounding Kevin Hart
The great Will Smith - the decent Diddy Combs
I love 'em all
Proves to y'all
I'm down with the homes

Cause - I wanna be a minority
Won't catch me acting deplorably
Victims have moral authority
So - I wanna be a minority
Also, ideally this would have the triple rhymes in the chorus every time...but ideally, we'd all treat each other as individuals and that ain't happening either

Hahaha. I loved your spin on the song and sticking to the theme which I didn’t think you did at first but being green with envy totally works! So many great lines here and fantastic substitutions!

It took a little extra time to get this, since it doesn't describe the band, but there are people like this. "The whitest guy you know" sealed the 5s.

Brilliant skewering of the subject. Majority types who have everything but minoritiness. Cmon guys. Give em a break. Eminem’s got a lot to answer for. Bitingly funny phrases as usual Claude, esp your post script and saying the n-word when there’s none of them around. My heart bleeds. 555

I knew the green connection was coming then...ah, well done! Fun, clever song...if I didn't know better, I'd think there's a deeper meaning that we could all learn from in there somewhere

Before I even read past the first verse, I burst out laughing, as it made me think of the George Costanza line from Seinfeld (something like): "I wish I was one of those privileged disabled people". So then I read on. Like Stuart, the post script had me nodding, and I got a great chuckle out of the not-so-veiled inference behind the line "The great Will Smith - the decent Diddy Combs" lol :)

I love the OS, and this parody is da bomb! Seriously funny stuff here, Claude...razor sharp wit and just the right amount of dig at these ridiculous types. 555

Are you sure you're not the love child of Weird Al and Tom Lehrer? Fantastic work.

I keep telling people that skin colour pills will be one of the first over-the-counter items once the DNA-hacking bioindustry moves into large scale production sales to the public. That kind of racism will be a solved problem within in my lifetime, but for completely different reasons than half of the political spectrum thinks - capitalism's is gonna save us here whether we like it or not. Personally I'm gonna switch to green like the hulk, or since that probably will look weird on my longlegged spindly runner's frame maybe orange because then no-one will ever be able to make rhymey jokes about my complexion.

I will post this quote again from Mr, Francis Vincent Zappa (RIP), "I'm not black, but there are a whole lot of times I wish I could say I wasn't white." Play this over the credits of Get Out 2 (of which I do not doubt will be made)/ Well done.

If I appreciated sharp satire, I would appreciate this. Instead, I'll brag and say I caught the prefatory-comment nod to "Real Men of Genius." Also, we should meet IRL sometime so you could be the second-whitest guy you know. Also also, the n-word verse alone is worth the price of admission and bites so hard it leaves a mark.
