The Lyrics

Best. Movie. Ever. AmiRight or AmiRight or AmiRight? Right? Right? Right?
(Hey! Stay!)

Hear the sound of “I Got You, Babe”
Coming from the alarm again that’s great
But wait
The repartee’s from yesterday

Join the large squirrel-worship mob
At a place that they call Gobbler’s Knob
Oh god
It’s Groundhog Day once again today

I beg for things to differ every time I rise
In Punxsutawney for the rest of my life
On Groundhog Day

It’s the same day every time
So I can save your life or rob you blind
You’ll find
At Jeopardy I’ll blow your mind

Déjà vu to the power of zen (WAY ZEN!)
I haven’t died since I do not know when
But then
When I pretend, I get slapped again

I beg for things to differ every time I rise
In Punxsutawney for the rest of my life
On Groundhog Day

(Hey! Who’s that up onstage with all the guyliner playing the lame guitar solo? Phil? Phil Connors? I thought that was you!)

***The representative from the insurance company has the floor***

Hey Phil, It’s your favorite classmate
Needlenosed is Ned RY-ER-SON
Oughta buy some life insurance
I got the feeling YOU GOT NONE

Bing! Bing! When you answer questions
You say you don’t re-MEMBER ME?
Well you’re a liar, sure’s heck-fire
Cuz I remember YOU YOU’LL SEE

Watch out….
Watch out, first step’s a doozy, yeah!

I beg for things to differ every time I rise
In Punxsutawney for the rest of my life

I beg to dream and differ from my shallow guise
In Punxsutawney for the rest of my life

For all my life it’s Groundhog Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

My favorite movie of all time set to one of my favorite songs of all time done by one of my favorite parodists of all time, could anything get better than this? I don't know... I loved the whole Ned Ryerson monolouge you added from the movie in the lyrics, just all and all brilliant work here Claude and on the perfect day to boot.

I don't have the best pipes in the world, but I would love to record this one for you Claude.

Happy Groundhog Day, Claude and everyone else on AmIRight, Alvin is right about "Groundhog Day" being a good movie, and yes, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today but other groundhogs might not have. 5s.

Thanks everyone. And Matthias, I'd be honored; there's no way your pipes are worse than mine, my children actually pay ME an allowance to not sing around them.

I stole a bunch of backing tracks and "Holiday" happens to be one of them, so expect a recording (By at least next Groundhog's Day, heh, heh...)

For several years I've been thinking of parodying "Holiday" with something like "Father's Day" or "Arbor Day" or even "Talk Like a Pirate Day," but oddly enough it never occurred to me to do "Groundhog Day." I'm glad it occurred to YOU. This is awesome.

When I first glanced at the title, I thought it would just be about the day itself. If I'd known then that it was about the movie, I would've checked it out sooner.

The parody was awesome, BTW. 555

One of my favorite movies. Not real familiar with the OS, but a good parody stands on it's own, and this is good.

(SOTM) I haven't seen the whole movie, which is probably I have no idea who the hell Ned is or what he's singing about. Still good enough to get 555 outta me!

(SOTM) I think it has actually been voted best comedy of all time - whatever, to me it's a classic because it just keeps improving every time I watch it, and I must be up to 10 times by now - the details in it are many, varied and inspired - just like this parody, Claude - great stuff - 555

An excellent write here, Claude
Watched this movie much ?
I expected you to use "Déjà vu all over again" but " Déjà vu to the power of zen" was way better.

This is one of the greatest parodies that I have ever read. Seriously, if someone told me that this was on Yankovic's new album or something, I would totally believe it. Not even kidding! 555

As always, you made me lmao but after re-reading the great detail in here, this particular one was really tough. Not only did you maintain your above-average sense of humor but you made it look easy too. You have REAL talent. No doubt about it. It's fantastic to read you again. I especially like reading your fans' comments too. I've got to check here more often than every 6 months.

(SOTY) I haven't seen the movie in AGES, so a lot of the details in here went over me. Time to rent that one again!

I've never actually seen this movie. Blasphemy. I know. Most of the jokes were over my head but I trust that it's Claude-y epicness has not been cheapened.

This is the best song about meteorological rodents and infinite time loops I have ever heard. Well done, mysterious stranger!
