The Lyrics

Yeah, there's The Simpsons...but they're in some bad company.
There's nothing on TV
I channel-surf, a blur is on my screen
Soon a voice does scream,
"Coming up on FOX!" and I start to moan

Home of "reality"
Tone-deaf hacks that think that they can sing
Simon Cowell wrings
Their necks, but me, I think that they all should croak

They all should croak, this show's a joke
What do they smoke? I dunno...

Good qual'ty's compromised for sky-high ratings
Who really wants to see some dumb folk mating?
Yet still they cannot comprehend my hating
This station's error-prone...

Oh, gah, no FOX, get gone, blah blah
Oh, gah, no FOX, get gone, blah blah

News channel's even worse
All the nation's fallen to its curse
Hardline right's the norm
Heaven help you if you don't conform!

Coulter's book gets read
Makes some veins go bursting in my head
Bush is approv-ed
At two hundred percent?!? This I don't condone!

I don't condone O'Reilly's tone
We must disown this doctrine!

They strongly advocate NSA spying
It's "fair and balanced?" Yeah, when pigs start flying!
Yet they say liberals do all the lying
Stop that infernal drone!

Oh, gah, no FOX, get gone, blah blah
Oh, gah, no FOX, get gone, blah blah

It makes me moan, make it stop, yeah!

So everywhere I see
Awful FOX pollution on my screen
Murdoch's media dream
Is realized at the world's expense, so...

It's time to put a stop to all this blather
Far worse than anything said by Dan Rather
So go and grab your soap and sponge and lather
And wipe it off your screen!!
"Murdoch" is Rupert Murdoch, the head of News Corporation, FOX's parent company. And "media" is pronounced as two syllables.

There's Family Guy too... and I actually like American Idol, but still loved this. 5s

I'll never understand the fascination with the gross garbage that is "The Simpsons." Other than that, you've nailed it. Even Keith Olbermann would approve.
John Barry - January 29, 2007 - Report this comment
You are too kind. Great parody.
Dylan Baranski - January 29, 2007 - Report this comment
They also got King of the Hill. Heck, the new season of that show started yesterday.

Some mighty fine writin' there. What's next - a parody about Ann Coulter to the tune of Jimmy Hendrix's "FOXy Lady"?

are you having a go at my Aussie buddy, Rupert, Cat? and as for dumb folk mating, are you saying Fox has actually broadcast the Paris Hilton video over there? wow! - excellent idea, great OS for it, and wonderful parody Cat - 555

Very cleverly stated, Cat. I agree that it is annoying when Alan Colmes pollutes my televison screen.
Capitalist - January 29, 2007 - Report this comment
It's called 'You get what you pay for.'

Thanks everyone!

Rex: Neat idea, but there's no way I'm giving that nasty broad the pleasure of being ASSOCIATED with the word "foxy!"

Stu: Not to my knowledge...this is FOX we're talking about, after all! I was referring more to their inane dating reality shows.

Ah, Capitalist. I was wondering when you would show up.
Michael Pacholek - January 30, 2007 - Report this comment
I actually heard a rumor that Alan Colmes was killed in a car crash yesterday. It wasn't true. But every time I see him on "The Sean Hannity Show," he doesn't show much life. Hannity tells lie after lie right beside him, and he barely speaks up. But when Al Franken, whose side he is supposedly on, makes fun of him by altering the show's title in his books, he gets upset. Alan, you need to sort out your priorities!

This was great. Well paced, well written, well done. I do have one suggestion - scrap the word good, since it's implied anyway, and let quality have 3 syllables. I don't like apostrophe abuse because that makes it not work so well when sang out loud, but this was still worthy of triple 5s.

i had no idea about the fox network i do now who's a clever cat ! there's nothing wrong with this parody and how about doing "foxy lady" about you ?
Cat - January 31, 2007 - Report this comment
Yeah, Ethan, but that would make it "qual-IT-y," which is wrongly stressed. And I'm trying to avoid that.

(Ages Comp) A well deserved kick in the tush for Mr. Murdoch.

(AGES) as always, very impressive Cat. . .I will get to work on what we were talking about in private tonight. . .good luck with everything, and great start to the Ages by the way.

I've always viewed FOX as a counterbalance to hardline left networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and PBS. That said, there is still a lot on FOX that makes good parody fodder. Personally, I've been shunning TV for almost 20 years.---MM

Yikes. I should've known the reaction I'd get when I wrote this. Figures. But I don't regret writing this at all...I needed to get it out!! (At least they have the dignity to spare me more on the pacing, anyway!)
bobpiecheese - February 09, 2007 - Report this comment
(AGES) Those votes are grossly undeserved. This was hell good! Not that I've ever watched Fox (I don't get cable) but it's a good thing I don't!
Jack Wilson - February 12, 2007 - Report this comment
(AGES) Awesome again,5s
