The Lyrics

It is a sad day for free speech and investigative journalism when a pioneer of our time, Julian Assange, gets arrested and removed from the Ecuadorian embassy with an extradition order by another country. This kind of sad story seems to send a message that censorship in journalism will win out. Although I am aware that Wikileaks is bigger than one man, those that are associated may end up running for their own safe haven embassy, consulate, or country that would give them sanctuary. I guess that's why I used this Coldplay song.
(Verse 1)
You wrote a story fine
And posted it online
Because I have a spine
The press thinks I am wrong

The website where he speaks
I called it Wikileaks
For real journalism geeks
Who don’t read from TV

(Bridge 1)
So there’s a new platform
Ideas to brainstorm
And we do not conform
From what is on TV

(Chorus 1)
The crimes they try to paint
So I am not a saint
Well won’t that make you faint
I’m pulled from embassy

(Verse 2)
Stories from Afghan logs
From Manning’s own warhogs
Treason from catalogues
Gender swapped iden-ti-ty

There are many more spies
Exposing all their lies
Reasons to despise
What nations tell you

(Bridge 2)
His freedom they did took
In lock,-down have a look
Not your, aver-age crook
A whistleblower to

(Chorus 2)
The crimes they try to paint
So I am not a saint
Well won’t that make you faint
The price of liberty
I’m pulled from embassy

(Guitar solo, Ooohh….)

(Bridge 1)

(Verse 3)
The lives that are at stake
Redactions are all fake
And we do not conform
From what is on TV

Ecuador, what’s going on
I thought we got along
Was liv,-ing here just wrong
Maybe it was movie*

(Verse 4)
All the lives that are at stake
Redactions are all fake
And we do not conform
From what is on TV
I’m pulled from embassy

What is on TV
I’m pulled from embassy
Yeah, that is on TV
I’m pulled from embassy
* = The fifth estate starring Benedict Cumberbatch, a Wikileaks biopic film. You could say this song does touch on the necessity for this website to exist and other independent outlets. The real crime I realized later on, was that this song is not listed in the catalogue at my Karaoke bar. Coldplay cover bands, do me a solid. This has to be performed somewhere, get the word out. Julian might be able to get a lawsuit out of this arrest in the future.

So now the press does not want to call Julian Assange a journalist. Even though most mainstream media outlets, do a s**t job when it comes to proper investigations. IRONY!!!!
