The Lyrics

Our house is haunted, oh dear...

And the ghosts are spookin' spookin', and spookin' spookin', and spookin' spookin'...

Cross on your neck from vampires protect
But when it's ghosting time, now genuflect
We are poltergeists that run around unchecked
From cemetery wrecked, was not cleaned perfect
Oracles had their cognition, sent you on a high mission, free these orphaned souls and take away their emissions
'Cause when we freak out, folks, it's chilling, no doubt
That happy family was sadly put out
Scaring all of them out
Popping all our eyes out
Hell bent, jumped forth from dog's mouth

Every ghoulie, every ghostie, let's start scaring it
Get spooky!
Get it haunted, get it haunted, get it haunted!
Dearly departed (boo!), dearly departed in here!
Dearly departed (boo!), dearly departed in here!
Dearly departed (boo!), dearly departed in here!
Dearly departed (boo!), dearly departed in here!
Yeah!

Out from hole, lost body not soul
We are ex-people, paid our last toll!
Some crushed their head, others misplaced it
We all scream about it, the way we bit it
Got gutted, got booted
Get in the spirit people, you walk right through it
Full of pep, like Casper the new kid
Shrieking fits are our top diversion
Treats or tricks, key words of the season
Ectoplasm is so tangible, and that's what we're oozin'

Every ghoulie, every ghostie, let's start scaring it
Get spooky!
Get it haunted, get it haunted, get it haunted!
Dearly departed (boo!), dearly departed in here!
Dearly departed (boo!), dearly departed in here!
Dearly departed (boo!), dearly departed in here!
Dearly departed (boo!), dearly departed in here!
Yeah!

Rottin' rottin', and rottin' rottin', and rottin' rottin'...

In the halls, there's bad juju!
It's bad juju! It's bad juju! It's bad juju! It's bad juju!...now now now
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!...

Feel the chill? That's our deal
Don't be late for the ghostly quadrille (Just)
Freak your mind Halloween time
We're all freshly killed, but we have a good time
(Just) Scream along with me, gettin' all creepy, under your bed or in your Chevy
We all pass slowly in our walk to death's grip
Call Ghostbusters to inspect it, we're indignant, we are spectric!

Yeah!

There's bad juju, there's bad juju (in there!)...(etc.)
Wow wow wow!
Hahahahahahahahahha...
Hauntin' hauntin' and hauntin' hauntin', and hauntin'...

The first line was a bit awkward with the pacing despite matching the syllables perfectly, but not bad enough to merit a point deduction on a one to five scale. Great concept and great rhyming, and would probably fit very well in the promo for a scooby doo movie if they make another one.

I pray that they don't. Thanks, Eth!

Fav line " . . . under your bed, or in your Chevy " ! Great whacky piece, Sir Agree. < CABO WABO > award worthy !

I was waiting for that Ghostbuster's line. This has to be one of your best, and since it's towards the middle/end of September it's the perfect time to get into the Halloween mood. This is also probably one of the most commerical songs you have done (And by that I mean the one with the most radio airtime). The Karaoke Revolutionized project must be putting your mind into more popular music and less indie, although I hope you keep up with finding new and strange songs to parody.

I love this song. It's like part Poultergeist and part Ghostbusters. I love the supernatural, it's one of my many interests. You know, there was this really interesting story about someone encountering the ghost of John Candy at the holy cross cementary, it's facinating. Another thing that facinates me is all those stories about Elvis sightings. Elvis sightings are extremely mysterious.

(SOTM) Great internal rhyming work throughout, though a different chorus each time would have been nice. Plenty of ghoulish comedy chuckles.
Peter Andersson - October 10, 2008 - Report this comment
I see that minds wander in different directions to this, Scooby Doo, Poltergeist and Ghostbusters have already been mentioned, for me it was Beetlejuice and The Addams Family.

It seemed to start slowly for me, but that last stanza was amazing man. And topical in a different way than the political parodies this month. Well played, Agri.

(Artistry) Loved the 'juju' part, the rest was amazing. 555 busters of the chost variety for you!

(Art) Pretty good for a Halloween themed parody. The impressive thing about this particular parody was the rhyming in the first verse. It was impressive use of word play, nothing so horribly complex that one couldn't understand, but complex enough to match the mood of TOS. Very well done all around.

(Artistry) Great video material, and bonus points for "spectric".

SOTM - What a creative idea! I noticed only a few pacing issues but you had some great internal rhymes going and the overall effect was hoo-riffic. Well done!

:-) Lyrically superb, Ag. Don't think there's a hope in hell (so to speak) of doing this with just me and a guitar, though.
Gianni Parmesiani - October 27, 2008 - Report this comment
SOTM- I'm in agreement with so many above commentators but mostly with those who say it is a timely piece what with Halloween approaching and those who felt a different chorus each time would be in order.

(SOTM) See above (speaking of which 'chost' should be 'ghost'. Silly me!)!

(SOTM) Well, I already stated my opinion of this one--when time is tight, that can be a good thing

Nice original idea and great rhyming. I thought "genuflect" and "spectric" were particularly well placed.

What I said back on 10/12/08. I read it again and it is still enjoyable.

This was clever and impressive. I liked the parts everyone else mentioned, plus "we are ex-people" struck me funny as well. Nicely done.
Matthias - April 20, 2009 - Report this comment
I'm still impressed and surprised by this one, because I'm used to you parodying songs that I don't know, and look them up on Youtube and then enjoy them because they're really random and strange ones. This was very mainstream for you, and I love it.

(ABC) more well-crafted than funny Ag, but some of your rhyming was awesome - and there was great rhythm to it to match the OS - 555

Superb rhyming, and massive kudos for keeping me interested and entained throughout an entire OS which I despise. Normally I would mention the repeated chorus as a negative, but here it works,' cause for some reason it's funny to me (like MS' "Making Love (In the men's bathroom stall)).

Great Halloween song! I like the OS (I'm a fan of mindless songs), this was a great job.

TTTT, Dave, I didn't hate this song or the artist (I;ve intensely hated Incubus you might recall) :)
