The Lyrics

Uh huh, let's tell you
Uh huh, uh huh, what's the honest truth
Let me tell you
Uh huh, uh huh, what's the honest truth

Fact is, I rarely play guitar
One cord, but that's about as far
And who really writes my deep lyrics
The Matrix
I'm manufactured pop rock
Aimed at the teen and tween lot
Fans defend my credibility, but they don't see
Management team, controls everything
They say to act tough, but that's not enough
I'm the Anti-Britney, trash her for publicity
Tell me

Don't you realize my career's so fabricated?
I see the way you follow me and believe in every word I'm saying
Let me tell you
LA Reid, promised me, catchy hooks, so I took
What he said and he turned me into
Angst filled teen and punk rock queen, my fans must really think I look it
Gullible

Poser singer-songwriter
Dressed up like a skateboarder
Why you can't distinguish the deceit
Confuses me
Laugh out when you buy my shtick
I don't shop at Hot Topic
Fans claim I'm a genuine artist when they dismiss
Management team, controls everything
They say to act tough, but that's not enough
I'm the Anti-Britney, trash her for publicity
Tell me

Don't you realize my career's so fabricated?
I see the way you follow me and believe in every word I'm saying
Let me tell you
LA Reid, promised me, catchy hooks, so I took
What he said and he turned me into
Angst filled teen and punk rock queen, my fans must really think I look it

This has got to be one of the best Complicated parodies out there. Good job! A few minor pacing problems, but other than that, a well-needed Avril bashing from someone who knows what he's talking about. I'm sick of "Chill out, Avril is a bore"...boring lyrics. Yours were a nice breath of fresh air.

Thanks. People keep telling me I'm off in my pacing, but I don't think I am. So, I must not be doing something right? Can you point out an instance where I was off? I'd really appreciate it. It would help me out greatly!

I just realized something. The line, "I see the way you follow me and believe in every word I’m saying" would sound better if I left out the in after believe. But, I'd be short one syllable, because every is NOT three syllables, although I didn't know that before. It's not pronounced ev·er·y, it's ev·ery. I can just hear myself singing, "I see the way you follow me and believe ev·er·y word I'm saying." Damn, that has a nice ring to it.
