The Lyrics

A complete departure from the original song, at least in topic. This version isn't about somebody's failed relationship; no, this time we're gonna sing about NASCAR!
Lap 210 and we're keeping the race fans awake,
And I need to try not to make any mistakes,
I must win this, the last race of the season
We swap paint on our doors, bump-and-wiggle the rear
Seven thousand RPM thumping in our ears,
NASCAR fans, you're all here for the very same reason

'Cause you can't cut the track, 'cross the grass of the infield,
This race isn't made like that, there ain't no cheat codes
Try and they'll push the rewind button, dude,
And review the tape several times
Oh breathe, just breathe,
More speed, clenched teeth

See number 21 on the base of turn three
Pull it over to pass and he'll soon be home free,
Someone hits him, and baby, it spins him across here.
In the stands they can tell that that last move was vile,
But my God it's so crazy they can't help but smile,
Wanna cheer him, maybe they'll just yell about it.

'Cause you can't cut the track, 'cross the grass of the infield,
This race isn't made like that, there ain't no cheat codes
Try and they'll push the rewind button, guys,
And review the tape several times,
Oh breathe, just breathe,
More speed, clenched teeth

There's brake lights at the end of this straight, in the turn
And you have to slow down, there's a crash and it burns
The speed that you've lost, you can make up again
If you go fast the whole way around.

Lap 210 and I'm still in third, forming a plot
If I work it all out in my brain, I'll get a spot
If I drive tough, and I go fast enough I could win
And I know that I'm sweating; I'm hearing the crowd
Also hearing my pit crew guy, screaming out loud
And he tells me to pit now, I'll run out of gas soon

'Cause you can't cut the track, 'cross the grass of the infield,
The race isn't made like that, there ain't no cheat codes
No one can hit the rewind button now
They're too busy cheering you on.
Oh breathe, just breathe,
More speed, clenched teeth,
More speed, must lead.
